South Tamil School History
Revamped school website was relaunched
In 2021, we implemented the linguistics based and second language teaching and learning method and aligned textbooks (Padimurai Tamil).
South Tamil School initiated the tamil classes for adults in 2021 with a huge interest from the community.
Mr. Subramaniam Rasaratnam was appointed as a “Linguistics Mentor” to our school in 2020.
The concept of Smart Classrooms was introduced to our students in 2020.
South Tamil School framed another milestone in the history to celebrate the 40th Anniversary in 2020.
In March 2020 the outbreak of the COVID-19 epidemic began and affected our school education activities as well. We have had to stop our regular classes in response to the COVID-19 epidemic. In April 2020, we launched our online learning activity ‘South Tamil School – Virtual Learning Classroom’ Virtual Learning
Achieved Office of Multicultural Interests Pathways to Improvement registration in 2019.
With the significant increase of student number, we were able to implement the restructure of classes based on age, needs, learning capacities and language developmental level, including introduction of special and transitional classes.
Started coaching ATAR Tamil Courses in 2018.
The custom made school bag was introduced in 2017.
School website was redesigned and improved

The current school logo was introduced in 2014.
We introduced the Tamil Competitions in Western Australia in 2013.
The First Year book was released in 2013
School moved to the current Lynwood Senior High School location in July 2013.
School timing changed from morning session to afternoon session which enabled more students to attend Tamil School.
In 2010, the School moved to the Willetton Senior High School and operated there up until mid-2013
The First Thamil Vizha (Annual Concert) was hosted in 2008.
School celebrated the 25th Silver Jubilee in 2005.
In 1995, the ‘Tamil School’ moved to Mandela hall in Bateman and functioned there up until 2009. With the formation of the ‘North Tamil School’ in 1995, the ‘Tamil School’ embraced the adjective of ‘South’ and became as the ‘South Tamil School’.
South Tamil School – The ‘Tamil School’ was formed in 1980 by our Tamil community members who felt the need to teach Tamil language to our children so that they do not lose their identity and mother tongue. The ‘Tamil School’ conducted its classes at ‘Tamil House’ in Perth City
